I think we tend to remember and learn from mitaskes a lot more than when things are going well. Many people look back on their day or year and remember the challenges because the good times don't always seems to register in our memory. We need to make more of an effort to remember how much of life is good and rewarding instead of dwelling on the negative.

I've made this with varying levles of success thanks (no thanks!) to my crappy Hamilton Beach blender. The other day I tried it with an immersion blender and wow! It went super smooth almost instantly! I reduced the amount of water and put all the ingredients in the plastic cup that came with my immersion blender. A few seconds later, when it was super smooth (I was *shocked*! I've let the same mixture run in my regular blender for five minutes and it still came out chunky), and then poured it over ice in my regular blender to make a milkshake-ish drink. Dee-licious!

The metaphor is a good one, but pehpras is better with a different characterization. The butter being spread is goods and services. The population consenting is characterized by the size of the slice of bread. Most totalitarian regimes (and I include monarchies).John Lackland ran a totalitarian regime that concentrated wealth and power in himself. His noble class wanted some of that and so issued and enforced the Magna Carta. But all the Magna Carta did was spread the butter over a slightly larger slice of bread. The noble class was still responsible for accumulating wealth by oppressing their peasant class. All the Magna Carta did was allow the nobles to keep more of what they squeezed out of the serfs.Which gets to a topic we didn't discuss here, and now won't, that is really very interesting: feudalism is a totalitarian form of capitalism, and as a form of totalitarianism it works fairly well. The problem with modern capitalism as a feudal system is that poor people don't create wealth through labor the way they once did, resulting in the need for a fairly large and educated middle class to do the actual work, and that middle class is constantly demanding more from the system and striving to embrace democratic values in order to get it, and democracy is antithetical to capitalism.

Thank you Susan smiles are alywas good! It's interesting to hear that you painted in this style earlier in your painting. I am finding myself being drawn more and more into abstracts as I learn more about paints and how to use them! I know it really helps me to be lost' or work intuitively. I sure get in trouble when I start to (over) think what I'm doing. And I love to paint and then walk away for awhile I am only familiar with Flora Bowley online I've watched some of her short youtube videos. How is her online class? She's offering it again in June . . .Don't you love that Buddha quote perfect from when I'm ever taking myself too seriously! ha!

Susan you would be great at a kids line. You seem to be such a kid still and with all the work you do with the developmentally chlglenaed folks your heart is just open to that freshness! And I'm sure your granddaughter would love it! I agree that abstracts are so primal it is truly physical from a place I can't even describe. My goal is to integrate the abstract with my love of folk art. I have a couple of pieces started . . . I would love to take Flora's class but I think I'll wait for an in-person' workshop. I love her work! Can't wait to see what you do with all those canvasses!Everyone should have that Buddha quote posted where they can see it daily!
